The drink brandy received its name from the city of Cognac in France. The geographical boundaries of the area where brandy production is allowed, the production technology, and the name “Cognac” itself are strictly defined, regulated, and established by numerous legislative acts. Brandy is an inherently French product. The only brandy in the world that has received permission to be called “Cognac” was brandy produced at the Nikolai Shustov distilleries in Yerevan.
