5 Brazil — 34.9 GW
Brazil has established itself as the leading wind power market in Latin America. Its installed capacity reached roughly 34.9 GW in 2025. Strong and relatively consistent winds, particularly in the northeastern part of the country, have helped make wind power an important complement to Brazil’s large hydropower sector. Brazil added around 2.3 GW of new wind capacity in 2025.
6 Spain — 33.3 GW
Spain has been one of Europe’s pioneers in large-scale wind power. By the end of 2025, the country had approximately 33.3 GW of installed wind capacity. Favorable wind conditions in several regions, together with decades of investment in renewable energy, have made wind power an important component of Spain’s electricity system.
7 United Kingdom — 33.1 GW
The United Kingdom has developed a particularly strong offshore wind sector thanks to its extensive coastline and favorable conditions in the North Sea. Its total installed wind capacity reached about 33.1 GW in 2025. The UK was also among the countries installing more than 1 GW of new wind capacity during 2025.
8 France — 25.7 GW
France had approximately 25.7 GW of installed wind capacity at the end of 2025. The country has continued expanding both onshore and offshore wind projects and remains one of Europe’s major wind markets. In 2025, France added around 1.4 GW of new wind capacity.
9 Canada — 18.2 GW
Canada had approximately 18.2 GW of installed wind capacity in 2025. The country’s vast territory provides significant opportunities for wind development, particularly in the prairie provinces. Wind power complements Canada’s traditionally large hydropower sector and has become an increasingly important source of new renewable electricity capacity.
10 Sweden — 17.4 GW
Sweden rounds out the top ten, with approximately 17.4 GW of installed wind capacity at the end of 2025. The country has expanded wind power considerably over the past decade, particularly through large onshore projects. Sweden also added around 1.8 GW of new capacity during 2025.
