When some pranksters photoshopped the Berlin TV Tower out of a city skyline photo, the Berliners literally stopped recognizing it. And yet, it doesn’t even make the list of the tallest TV towers in the world! What can be said about the top structures? Each of them has become a symbol of its city, its pride, and a tourist attraction. Let’s look at the tallest symbols.

Tokyo TV Tower – 634 m. Tokyo TV Tower Tokyo’s “Sky Tree” surpasses its competitors in many aspects. Of course, it is the tallest. But not only that, the structure has a total of four observation decks. By the way, if you’re in Tokyo, it’s wiser to ask about the “new TV tower” since the city has an older one that is half its size.

Guangzhou TV Tower – 600 m. Guangzhou TV Tower You won’t confuse the Guangzhou TV Tower with any other, not just because of its height. The structure has a completely unique shape. It’s a hyperboloid structure, which allowed the observation deck to be placed almost at the top – at 488 meters. This is a record among TV towers.

Toronto TV Tower – 553 m. Toronto TV Tower In third place is Canada’s most iconic TV tower. Even though it’s quite old (construction began in 1973 and lasted two years), the Toronto TV Tower remains the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Ostankino TV Tower – 540 m. Ostankino TV Tower The Ostankino TV Tower, located in the capital of Russia, was built even earlier than the Canadian one. And although new contenders for the title of the world’s tallest structure constantly appear, pushing it down the list, the Ostankino TV Tower still remains the tallest in Europe and, of course, in Russia.

Shanghai TV Tower – 468 m. Shanghai TV Tower Shanghai’s TV Tower is called the Oriental Pearl, and it certainly lives up to its name. Its beautifully harmonious design in “unicorn” tones distinguishes it from its competitors. While others may be taller, the Oriental Pearl is undoubtedly more beautiful.

Tehran TV Tower – 435 m. Tehran TV Tower Even against the backdrop of the mountains surrounding Iran’s capital, the Borj-e Milad (Milad Tower, “Birth”) is very impressive. Although such a grand construction project wasn’t easy for the country (the tower took 11 years to build), the result is simply stunning.

Kuala Lumpur TV Tower – 421 m. Kuala Lumpur TV Tower The Kuala Lumpur TV Tower is not only a communication structure but also a tourist complex with a revolving restaurant, two observation decks, and the Malaysian Cultural Park at its base.

Tianjin TV Tower – 415 m. Tianjin TV Tower From here on, we will talk about Chinese TV towers. China built the Tianjin TV Tower in 1991. The structure is located in the city’s pond area, which creates an unforgettable impression during sunset.

Beijing TV Tower – 405 m. Beijing TV Tower Experts might discuss transmission power, reception strength, or other communication features, but the general public is more interested in entertainment. The Beijing TV Tower offers a variety of attractions, including an aquarium, a revolving restaurant, and an observation deck with a telescope. It is the highest point from which the entire city can be seen.

Zhengzhou TV Tower – 388 m. Zhengzhou TV Tower Another hyperboloid structure makes the list of the world’s largest TV towers. And our number ten is no simple feat. It boasts the largest observation deck in the world – over 3,000 square meters!
